CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Some travelers at Charlotte’s airport are facing flight delays and cancellations as a severe weather system pushes into the area early Sunday morning with the threat of heavy rain, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.
WCNC Charlotte’s Julie Kay is at the Charlotte Douglas International airport to track the impacts throughout the morning on Sunday.
As of 7 a.m., there were a total of 34 flight delays in and out of the Charlotte airport and 61 flights were canceled.
A spokesperson for American Airlines said the delays and cancellations at the Charlotte airport are a result of the weather impacts.
“It’s going to be a rough day on the east coast,” the spokesperson said.
