North Carolina A&T State University deputies head to UNC Asheville to assist in aftermath of Hurricane Helene

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Members of the North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University Police Department headed to the University of North Carolina-Asheville to provide necessary assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, A&T said in a press release Saturday.

University police took portable batteries, generators and lighting, communication devices and electronics, first aid kids, N95 masks, nitrile gloves, hand sanitizers and disinfectants, cases of water and food.

Help comes just as the North Carolina Department of Public Safety announced that rescue operations are ongoing, and some parts of western North Carolina are flooded and only accessible by air.
