Deadly shooting under investigation near Uptown

It’s unclear if anyone was arrested. CMPD hasn’t identified the victim.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was killed in a shooting near Uptown on Tuesday morning, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said. 

The shooting happened around 9 a.m. near the intersection of North Davidson Street and East 12th Street, which is just off Interstate 277, near the McGill Rose Garden. CMPD closed a portion of 12th Street at I-277, including the off-ramp for the investigation.

CMPD hasn’t identified the person who was killed or announced any arrests at this time. It’s unclear if a suspect has been identified. 

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses can also call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with homicide detectives.
