Davis, described as a devoted caregiver for his wife and children, was fatally shot during a robbery in Asheboro on November 11.
ASHEBORO, N.C. — The car police believe was involved in the murder of Navy veteran David Davis was located in Durham on Friday night, according to the Asheboro Police Department.
The vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Avalon, is what police believe two suspects used on November 11 when they robbed the 64 Skillz in Asheboro and shot Davis dead. The two suspects are still considered at large, and the investigation is still ongoing.
Earlier this week, investigators released photos of the vehicle as well as the two suspects.
The photos show them dressed in hooded jackets and face masks to hide their appearance. Photos of the suspects’ vehicle — a gray 2013 Toyota Avalon with NC plate LAH-9992 — were also shared.
A family friend of Davis’ who spoke to WFMY News 2 said the 39-year-old was a loving caregiver for his wife, who has a chronic illness, and his three children, who all have various special needs.
“He has always been the type to take charge and do what needed to be done, so he handled almost everything in terms of day-to-day life at home,” the friend said. “In his mind, he took on that role of caregiver when he became a husband and a father, and that became his entire identity.”
