SOUTHPORT — As part of the North Carolina Highway 211 widening project underway in Brunswick County, a portion of North Carolina Highway 133 (Long Beach Road) is scheduled to close next week.

The road near Southport-Supply Road is anticipated to be closed through mid-summer 2025 while a North Carolina Department of Transportation contractor makes several improvements, including building a bridge over Highway 211.

Drivers needing to get around the construction will be detoured onto Old Long Beach Road. Drivers should be alert to the new traffic pattern and slow down in the area.
