He was found in a Pineville hotel room and arrested.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Stallings man was sentenced to about 15 years in prison for charges of trafficking methamphetamine and related gun offenses in the Charlotte area, according to federal court officials.
Pineville police officers found 36-year-old Jonathan Craig Otuel in a hotel room with three other people. Officers said they found methamphetamine and a gun that had been thrown off the balcony.
A search warrant was issued for the hotel room and officers said they found multiple bags of methamphetamine and an additional gun.
Investigators said Otuel was responsible for trafficking significant amounts of methamphetamine in Mecklenburg and Gaston Counties.
On Monday, Otuel was sentenced to five years of supervised release in addition to the 15-year sentence. Otuel also pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He remains in federal custody.
U.S. Attorney King thanked Homeland Security Investigations, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Pineville Police Department and the Gaston County Police Department for their investigation of the case.
