Shelby teenager shot, killed in park

No arrests have been made as of Sunday morning.

SHELBY, N.C. — A 17-year-old died at the hospital after being shot at park in Shelby on Saturday afternoon, according to the Shelby Police Department.

The shooting happened just before 3:00 p.m. at Jefferson Park, which is on Buffalo Street. It started as a fight in another location, police said.

EMS took the person who had been shot to Atrium-Cleveland, where he died. Police said the victim is a Black male from Shelby but did not name name him.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
