Fire officials in Anson County, NC, are conducting three prescribed burns to reduce wildfire risk.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Fire officials are conducting three prescribed fires in Anson County, North Carolina.
The fires are 25, 75 and 90 acres in size.
The 25-acre fire is burning just north of Lilesville between US 74 and North Carolina State Route 109. It is highly visible from the WCNC weather camera and is streaming on WCNC+.
The 90-acre fire is burning south of US 74 along US 52 while the 70 acre fire is burning south of Lowrys along North Carolina State Route 109.
Prescribed burns are conducted to safely consume vegetation and other fuels that could burn in the event of a wildfire.
