Pollen levels on the rise on a sunny Tuesday morning in the Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — While we will have plenty of sunshine for the first half of the day, clouds are expected to overtake our skies later this afternoon. High temperatures are headed up to 70° today, and the UV index is 6 out of 11.

Conditions will stay dry today with low humidity and a breezy afternoon. Please avoid burning outdoors. Additionally, pollen is going to be a big issue for a lot of us today as tree pollen returns to the HIGH category, and grass pollen reaches MODERATE.

Tonight, we will start with clouds for the early evening, then the skies will clear overnight.  Temperatures will dip to near 40° by tomorrow morning.

High temperatures return to normal, in the mid-60s, Wednesday and Thursday, as high pressure slides into the Carolinas. There is a slim (20%) chance of a stray shower tomorrow afternoon, otherwise, it will be dry until late in the weekend.

Friday, high pressure shifts offshore. This will draw warm, moist air from the Gulf into the Piedmont.  Highs on Friday are going to return to the mid-70s under partly cloudy skies. Highs will be in the upper-70s on Saturday despite clouds overtaking our skies for the weekend.

An approaching cold front brings a 60% chance of rain on Sunday with highs in the mid-70s.  Monday, we’ll be watching out for the possibility of severe weather as the cold front marches across the state.  Highs on Monday will be in the mid-to-upper-70s.
