Man charged for sex crimes against minor in Alamance County

Deputies arrested a man after finding him and a 14-year-old in a suspicious vehicle together early Tuesday morning.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A Wake County man is facing felony charges for sex crimes against an Alamance County minor, according to deputies.

They said around 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a ‘suspicious vehicle’ call at the intersection of  Northdrop Drive and Solstice Drive in southeast Alamance County.

When they arrived, they discovered two people inside the vehicle. The driver was identified as Chase Alexander Vines, 22, and a 14-year-old girl.

Investigation revealed that there were inappropriate sexual activities believed to have happened in the vehicle, according to deputies.

Vines was arrested and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center. He was charged with felony indecent liberties with a minor and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a child.

Vines was given a $50,000 bond.

As the investigation continued, detectives learned that the 14-year-old was allegedly sexually assaulted by Vines. Detectives were informed that the alleged assault occurred in the vehicle before they arrived early Tuesday morning.

Vines was then charged with felony statutory rape.

Deputies said he appeared in court later the same day and was given a $5,000 bond and released from custody.
