PIEDMONT, TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A Heat Advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Montgomery, and Randolph Counties.Â
This is where the heat index may reach 104° or hotter for an extended period.Â

We’re starting the day with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. Temperatures are going to heat up quickly, from the mid-70s to the upper-80s by lunchtime.Â
We will reach the daytime high of 93° in the mid-afternoon, then start to cool off a bit as thunderstorms begin to fire up.Â
The heat index in the Triad will be between 100° and 104°, and the chance of rain is 50%.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue through the evening, then taper off around midnight. Lows will settle to the mid-70s by Saturday morning.
The weekend will be cooler, with highs in the mid-80s.Â
A cold front will cross the mountains and stall out over central North Carolina, bringing a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday, and a 30% chance on Sunday. Â
By Monday, the front washes out and we’ll have a few days with rain chances between 20% and 30%. Highs for the first half of the work week will return to the upper-80s.Â
Another system is forecast to bring rain on Thursday along with a few thunderstorms, and highs in the mid-80s.
