PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — High pressure continues to push cool, crisp air into the Piedmont today, though we’ll have more clouds than yesterday.
Even with mostly cloudy skies, it’s going to be a superb day to be outside, with highs in the mid-70s.
We’re expecting mostly cloudy skies overnight with lows settling close to 60° by daybreak.
Thursday, we’ll start the day with mostly cloudy skies, then sunnier conditions are expected by afternoon.
Partly cloudy skies stay put through Friday, and highs will rise to the upper-70s both days.
A cold front will be approaching the Appalachians by the beginning of the weekend, but very persistent, dry air is going to hamper any shower development.
As it crosses the state, a few showers (40%) may pop up Saturday morning, but there will be very low amounts of rain in area rain gauges.
Our skies are forecast to begin clearing fairly early in the day, so that will allow temperatures to bounce up to 80° Saturday afternoon.
Once the cold front reaches the coastal plain, another batch of cooler air arrives for Sunday.
We will have mostly sunny skies Sunday through Tuesday of next week. Temperatures will return to the mid-70s Sunday afternoon, then rise to near 80° by Tuesday afternoon.
