WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President Joe Biden is isolating in Delaware. Friday afternoon his doctor said his cough has improved since yesterday and he is handling treatment well.
The Biden campaign insists he is more determined than ever to defeat former President Donald Trump this November.
Vice President Kamala Harris took her grandnieces to a Washington, D.C. ice cream shop Friday and ignored questions about the controversy swirling in the Democratic Party.
Top party leaders have privately warned about President Biden’s viability as a candidate.
And Friday, a handful of sitting House members and one senator joined the growing chorus of Democrats publicly calling on the president to drop out of the race.
New Mexico Democratic Senator Martin Heinrich wrote in a statement, “I believe it is in the best interests of our country for him to step aside.”
In Milwaukee, Republicans united behind their nominee, former President Donald Trump, who spoke Thursday night for the first time since his attempted assassination last Saturday.
“If I had not moved my head at that very last instant, the assassin’s bullet would have perfectly hit its mark and I would not be here tonight,” he said.
The Trump campaign promised a message of unity to bring the country together, while promising a renewal for America.
“Biden, I’m not going to use the name anymore. Just one time,” Trump said. “The damage that he’s done to this country is unthinkable.”
