Winter weather disrupts over 600 flights at Charlotte airport

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hundreds of flights have been canceled at Charlotte Douglas International Airport Friday.

The airport itself is “fully staffed” and operating, with a 12-hour rotating snow team to ensure snow is removed and vehicles are de-iced. Airport officials confirmed the airfield and surrounding roads were pretreated on Thursday.

The cancellations and delays come as the Charlotte area prepares for winter weather Friday afternoon. 

The last time Charlotte had accumulating snow was January 2022 (Over 1,076 days ago). Some snow fell on Dec. 3, but there was no measurable snowfall in the city.
