The cause of her death is still being investigated.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A husband was arrested on Dec. 26 for murdering his wife, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD).

On Dec. 20, police said they responded to a call for service in the 400 block of East Devonshire Street and when they arrived, they found Carla Osmara Zepeda-Martinez, 31, dead inside a home.

Jorge Alberto Martinez, 33, was also found in the home in critical condition and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Autopsy results and preliminary findings confirmed Zepeda-Martinez’s death was the result of a homicide, police said. However, the exact cause of death remains under investigation.

Martinez was arrested and charged with felony murder and is being held with no bond.

Winston-Salem police stated that due to the circumstances and cause of death being undetermined, CSI has taken over the case. They also stated that further confirmed information would be released as it becomes available.
