Windy with a high of 78 on Thursday in the Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — We’re starting and ending the day with mostly sunny skies, but there will be a few hours midday when cloudier conditions pop up across the Piedmont. A cold front is forecast to pass through around lunchtime, and it will kick up some clouds from the late morning until the early afternoon. More notably, winds are going to increase today.  Sustained winds will be between 18 and 22 mph, while wind gusts will be between 30 and 35 mph.  High temperatures will be seasonable, in the upper-70s with a UV index of 9 out of 11.

Mostly clear skies are ahead for overnight, and winds will diminish slightly, to between 10 and 15 mph. Lows are going to be cool, in the lower 50s.

Friday is, without a doubt, one of the best days of the upcoming seven days! We will have loads of sunshine with highs in the lower 70s.

The weekend is looking pretty good, though we will see clouds increasing through Sunday evening. Highs are going to be steady, in the mid-70’s with a 40% chance of showers Sunday afternoon.

Wetter conditions are ahead for the beginning of the work week as a storm approaches the Carolinas. Temperatures will be in the lower 70s Monday, then return to the mid-70s Tuesday and Wednesday. There is a 40% chance of showers on Monday, but a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday. Morning showers extend into Wednesday, too, but our fingers are crossed we may see some sunshine by Wednesday afternoon.
