PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A strong cold front will be pushing through starting early Sunday from west to east.
Out ahead of the front we expect periods of heavy rain, possible hail, and a slight chance there could be damaging straight-line winds and even a chance for an isolated tornado caused by these very strong winds. Expect a low tonight around 58, with the winds gradually increasing as we get closer to sunrise.
It looks like our western and southwestern counties will be the first to see the storms as they gradually track to the east during the early morning and into the afternoon.
A Wind Advisory has already been issued for most of the day Sunday, and we can expect a variety of Watches and Warnings as a line of storms comes through.
There could also be a second line of storms once the first passes so it will be best to stay weather aware until at least Sunday evening.
The high Sunday should be near 75, as the cold front itself will not be coming through until after the storms. The low Sunday night will be near 45, and the high Monday will only reach near 60.
Tuesday and Wednesday will see a slow warming trend into the low, then mid-70s before another cold front comes through Thursday.
