Wilkes County Sheriff's Office charges former deputy with 6 counts of disturbing graves

David Morlando, 30 of Roaring River, was charged with six felony counts of disturbing a casket/grave marker. An investigation by the Sheriff’s Office concluded that Morlando “dislocated” five headstones from their bases and damaged a sixth headstone at its base.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Morlando has not been affiliated with them since he left his position as a deputy in 2022. He most recently served as a state trooper for the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
