West Charlotte woman concerned for safety after multiple break-ins at her home

All of the break-ins happened in December 2024, with the third one happening just this week.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A phone notification is all it takes to trigger a woman living in west Charlotte.

This comes after multiple phone alerts revealed intruders breaking into her home — and this week makes the third time this month.

“All I see is my front door opening from the inside,” she said, describing the surveillance footage she saw. “After the first time I immediately just started going to Amazon to buy every kind of camera I could.”

The victim wanted to conceal her face and name, but not her story.

For the first time in eight years, she said she’s worried about being safe in her own home. “I’m getting angry they have to be really brave to keep coming back,” she said. “Not only did they have to know my schedule but they had to know my neighbor’s schedule too.”

The police report highlights thousands of dollars worth of stolen items from jewelry and laptops, to cash and credit cards.

“We are hard-working people — if you need money, go get a job, if you need resources just ask for help,” she said.

The woman is now asking for the community’s help in finding out who has broken into her home, and she has a message for whoever is behind it.

“We are going to get you,” she said.

As the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department continues to investigate, she’s also working to get new locks and window screens for extra safety.
