(WGHP) — The last couple of days of 2024 will be unseasonably warm, running a solid 10 above normal. Â
Skies will be gradually clearing through the morning commute today, and we’re expecting sunny skies by lunchtime. On average, the high temperature is 50 but today, highs will be around 60. It will remain clear for the evening, but there will be more clouds rolling in after midnight. Lows will be in the lower 40s.
A low-pressure system is approaching from the west, so we will have a couple of fronts moving across the state tomorrow. First, a warm front is forecast to sweep through the Piedmont in the late morning hours, then a cold front will follow in the mid-afternoon. Highs are going to return to near 60 with partly to mostly cloudy skies.
As people ring in 2025 at midnight, temperatures will be in the mid-40s under partly cloudy skies!
New Year’s Day will be sunny and cooler, with highs in the lower 50s. Starting January 2nd, sharply colder air arrives in the Carolinas and it will be a cold first week of the new year. Thursday and Friday, skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with highs in the mid-to-upper 40s. Morning lows will settle to the upper 20s.
A cold front comes through Saturday morning, bumping highs down to the lower-to-mid-40s over the weekend with lows in the mid-20s. Skies are going to be mostly sunny on Saturday, but Sunday brings an increasing chance of rain, especially in the evening.Â
