With the first Monday of the new year on the way, and more folks on the roadways, our team wants you to stay weather aware!
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A strong low-pressure system arrives in the Carolinas late this weekend. This will bring a cold rain to all our local counties Sunday afternoon through the evening hours.
Overnight Sunday through Monday morning, some of this cold rain will change over to a wintry mix. This will be likely across the mountains (Ashe, Watauga, and Avery counties) and possibly across portions of Caldwell, Burke, Alexander, and Iredell counties.
If you think about where you live on a map, if it’s along and north of the I-40 corridor, you have a slightly higher chance of wintry precipitation. The only spots that’ll see straight-up snow are the highest elevations of the mountains (at or above 3,500 feet).
We want folks to stay Weather Aware, especially Monday morning, due to this inconvenient and nuisance forecast. Plus, it’s the first Monday of the new year and likely the first day many are headed back to work. With more people on the roadways, it may be a good idea to use extra, extra caution.
