CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A water main break in south Charlotte is causing icy conditions on a busy road.
It happened on Providence Road at Shalom Park Drive, under a mile away from the intersection between Providence Road and Fairview Road.
The Charlotte Department of Transportation said the water main break is causing icy conditions and has closed the left lane in both directions of the road.
People are asked to avoid the area or expect slow traffic as the issue is repaired.
It comes as the city prepares to see its first measurable snowfall to Charlotte in three years. That winter weather on Friday afternoon could lead to dangerous travel conditions due to freezing temperatures.
