Video: Firefighters help after tree falls on Randolph County home

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A tree crashed down on a home in Randolph County as heavy rains and winds hit the Triad, courtesy of Tropical Storm Debby.

Around 1 p.m. Thursday, a man was sitting on his front porch at his home on Old Liberty Road when the tree came crashing down right above him. He says he ran into the yard and called 911. No one was hurt.

The Franklinville Fire Department is using a ladder truck to cut away tree limbs to take off some of the weight on the roof. The homeowner says the fire department will tarp off the home for him to prevent rain from further damaging the inside of the house.

The man and his wife say they have lived at the home for about five years. The home was insured, and the family has a camper at the lake where they can stay for the night.
