CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WGHP) — Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young spoke to the media on Thursday after the Panthers completed the second day of their season training camp.
Young, who turned 23 on Thursday, spent his birthday morning participating in a wet and rainy practice.
Young said he looked at the day as an opportunity for both him and his teammates to get better.
“It’s really a mentality day,” Young said of practice in the rainy conditions. “Day two of camp just starting — it was a good to try and bring juice, bring energy, and for us to fight through that stuff.”
He also detailed the process of building chemistry with his new WR1 in Diontae Johnson.
“Diontae is very special in how he moves, how he creates separation and how he runs routes” Young said. “It’s my job to adjust to that and to make sure that I have the same timing.”
Young also expressed excitement at head coach Dave Canales’ self-proclaimed “stubborn” approach to running the football.
“It’s an attitude. It’s a mindset, ” Young said of the running game. “We want to be physical, we want to establish that run game.”
