Tropical Storm Debby to bring heavy showers, possible flooding to North Carolina

(WGHP) — The Piedmont will continue to watch the approach of Tropical Storm Debby

Wednesday will be cloudy with scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Highs on Wednesday will be in the lower 80s. The chance of rain is 50%.

Wednesday night through Thursday morning, Tropical Storm Debby should be moving across eastern South Carolina, approaching the border of North Carolina. In the Piedmont, our showers will become heavier by Thursday morning. The chance of rain is 80%. During the day Thursday, Tropical Storm Debby will continue to move across southern and central North Carolina. In the Piedmont, our rain will be heavy at times with highs in the upper 70s. The chance of rain on Thursday afternoon will be near 100%. Flooding is possible. Winds will be gusty at times.

On Friday, Tropical Storm Debby will continue to move across central North Carolina. Scattered showers will remain in the forecast. Isolated flooding will be possible. Winds will be breezy at times. Our highs will be near 80 degrees. The chance of rain is 80%. By the end of Friday, rain totals could be over seven inches, especially south and east of Greensboro.

Tropical Depression Debby will be moving away from us on Saturday. A morning shower will be possible, otherwise, look for mostly sunny skies with highs in the middle 80s.

Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs in the lower 80s.

It will be partly cloudy on Monday with highs in the lower 80s.

A shower or thunderstorm is possible on Tuesday, otherwise, look for partly cloudy skies. Highs on Tuesday will be in the lower 80s. The chance of rain is 30%.
