Horan was shot and killed at the Food Lion on Lawndale Drive on Monday.
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Over the past few days since his death, we’ve learned so much about Officer Michael Horan’s impact on the community.
And now, people are getting the chance to honor the fallen officer. WFMY News 2’s Giselle Thomas spoke to one man who honors fallen officers with art.Â
Junior Roddy, of High Point, has paid tribute to Officer Horan by creating one-of-a-kind laser-etched art. His latest creation is nearly the 5,000th he has created since May.
Roddy told WFMY News 2 that his passion is perfection, and he shares his talent with others to keep the image of their loved ones etched in their hearts. This week, he came to Officer Horan’s memorial in Greensboro to pay his respects.
Roddy created a laser-etched image of Officer Horan’s portrait, as well as another with the Greensboro Police Department badge. To create the unique art, Roddy said the laser moved 350 times in one minute for about half an hour.
It’s a task he humbly said isn’t comparable to the oath of an officer.
“My hard work compared to their hard work and their loss, I have no comparison to theirs,” Roddy said. “I can take a couple hours or a couple minutes. It’s nothing that compares to their loss their grief and such.”
Roddy told WFMY News 2 his inspiration comes from his late grandmother. And as the owner of Engraved images.art, he is looking forward to sharing his creations with the community.
