SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government meetings around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, we’ll include that below the listed meeting, too.

Monday, Sept. 30

The Wilmington City Council will hold an agenda review at 8:30 a.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are live streamed here. 

Tuesday, Oct. 1

The Wilmington City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are live streamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Public hearing: Ordinance Amending the Land Development Code, Chapter 18, Related to Various Items, Changes to Definitions, and Amendments Related to Parking Facility Design 
  • Ordinance Appropriating Funds in the Amount of $354,748 for Griffin Strong Interests, Inc. to Conduct a Disparity Study
  • Ordinance Appropriating Funds for Skyline Center Upfits Project in the Amount of $6,299,636

The Wilmington Housing Authority Board of Directors will meet at 4 p.m. in Grover Plaza, 1402 Little John Circle. 

Wrightsville Beach Planning Board will meet at at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers of Town Hall, 321 Causeway Dr. An agenda was not posted by press.

Surf City Town Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. at 214 W Florence Way in Hampstead. 

Pender County Board of Elections will have an absentee meeting at 6 p.m. at 807 S. Walker Street. An agenda was not posted by press.

New Hanover County Board of Elections will have an absentee review meeting at 5 p.m. at 1241A Military Cutoff Road. An agenda was not posted by press.

Brunswick County Board of Elections will have an absentee meeting at the David Sandifer Administration Building, 30 Government Center Drive. An agenda was not posted by press.

The Pender County Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 11 a.m. in the Dr. Katherine Herring Resource Center, 798 U.S. Highway 117 S to discuss the K-8 project manager contract. Meetings are live streamed here. 

The New Hanover County Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. in the Board of Education Center, 1805 S. 13th St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • NHCS employee listening tour 
  • 24-25 budget update 
  • Board norms 

The Brunswick County Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. at The Center of Applied Sciences and Technology (COAST), 1109 Old Ocean Highway. Meetings are live streamed here. The agenda includes: 

  • 2024-2025 calendar revision
  • Jackey’s Creek design and due diligence proposal

Wednesday, Oct. 2

The Wilmington Planning Commission will mee t at 6 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are live streamed here. The agenda includes:

  • 4950 Holly Tree Road and 340 Westchester Road: Conditional district rezoning of the properties containing 7.56 acres +/- from R-15, Moderate-density single-dwelling district, to RB (CD), Regional Business (Conditional District) for a private recreational facility.
  • 7725, 7729, 7753, 7759 Alexander Road: Rezoning from New Hanover County O&I(CZD), Conditional Office & Institutional to MD-17(CD), High-density multiple-dwelling residential (Conditional District) for a 253-unit multiple-dwelling development.

North Topsail Beach Board of Alderman will meet at 11 a.m. at Town Hall, 2008 Loggerhead Court in North Topsail. The agenda includes an update on coastal projects, a letter from the aldermen to state officials requesting a moratorium on shellfish leases, and a CAMA alderman grant. Surf City Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee will meet at Surf City Municipal Complex Training Room, 214 W. Florence Way in Hampstead. An agenda was not posted by press. 

Town of Topsail Beach Parks and Recreation Board meet at 10 a.m. at 820 S. Anderson Blvd. An agenda was not posted by press.

Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Finance Committee will meet at 9 a.m. at 235 Government Center Drive. The agenda includes an $80,500 contract amendment for Black & Veatch and a $1,284,000 construction contract to MB Kahn Waterworks.

Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Executive Committee will meet at 10 a.m. at 235 Government Center Drive. The agenda includes a report from executive director Kenneth Waldroup.

Thursday, Oct. 3

The New Hanover County Commissioners will hold an agenda review at 4 p.m in conference room 138-139 of the NHC Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive. An agenda was not posted by press. 

North Topsail Beach Planning Board will meet at 6 p.m. at Town Hall, 2008 Loggerhead Court in North Topsail. The agenda includes a request for a commercial pool to be constructed at LaCosta Bay, 107 LaCosta Place. Access video of the meetings here.

Town of Kure Beach Stormwater Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. at 117 Settlers Lane; an agenda was not posted by press.

Surf City Promotion, Special Events and Tourism will meet at Surf City Municipal Complex Training Room, 214 W. Florence Way in Hampstead. An agenda was not posted by press. 

Burgaw Tourism Development Authority will meet at 8:30 a.m. at Burgaw Town Center, 108 E. Wilmington St. An agenda was not posed by press; meeting is open to the public.

The New Hanover County Planning Board will meet at 6 p.m. in the NHC Courthouse, 24 N. Third St. Meetings are live streamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Rezoning Request (Z24-20) –  Request by Cindee Wolf with Design Solutions, applicant, on behalf of ZCH Investments, LLC, property owner, to rezone approximately 11.26 acres located at 4200 Castle Hayne Road from the R-20, Residential District to the (CZD) CB, Community Business District for the use of Outdoor Recreation Establishment

Friday, Oct. 4
