PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A cold front will march across North Carolina today, but with limited available moisture, there isn’t any precipitation expected. The thawing process continues today, with mostly sunny skies and highs that are going to be very near normal.Â
The average high is 49°, and we’re aiming for a high temperature of 48° by mid-afternoon. It will remain clear overnight with lows in the lower-20s.
A sizeable blast of Arctic air is forecast to blow across the Carolinas midweek. We will stay sunny, but temperatures will really chill down. Tuesday’s highs will be in the lower-40s, but the coldest weather is going to arrive Wednesday morning when lows dive into the upper teens. Highs on Wednesday will eventually rise to the upper-30s.
Sunshine is going to give temperatures a big boost for the end of the work week. We will return to the upper-40s Thursday and Friday. Â
While temperatures remain mild this weekend, around 50° on Saturday, it’s going to be pretty wet. There is an 80% chance of showers Saturday and Saturday night as an area of low pressure heads toward North Carolina. The low is forecast to cross the Piedmont Sunday morning, producing a 50% chance of showers, and the rest of the day will be cloudy with highs in the upper-40s. Â
