PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Happy New Year!

We are going to have beautiful, sunny conditions for the first day of 2025 with near-normal temperatures. Today’s forecast high is 51°.

It’s going to be clear and cold tonight with lows in the upper-20s.

The forecast stays dry through the end of the work week, with sunny skies On Thursday and partly cloudy skies on Friday. High temperatures on both days will be around 47°.

Another cold front is forecast to cross the state late Friday, so we will have colder weather on the way for the weekend. Grab an extra blanket because lows are going to dive into the lower-20s on Saturday and Sunday mornings! It will be sunny Saturday, with highs in the upper-30s. Clouds increase through the day on Sunday, and highs will return to the lower-40s.

Sunday night, there may be a brief opportunity for a frozen mixture of precipitation.  Temperatures are forecast to slip to 31°, and if we are cold enough as showers develop, this could make elevated surfaces slick. At this time, there is still uncertainty in the forecast models, so your FOX8 Weather Team will be monitoring model trends.

Temperatures will rise above freezing fairly early on Monday, so most of the commute will be a cold rain. There is a 70% chance of showers on Monday with highs near 40°. Tuesday is looking chilly and sunny, with highs in the upper-30s.
