Statesville police officer arrested, charged with domestic violence

A Statesville police officer has been arrested, according to the Statesville Police Department. 

Anthony Jerome Irving was arrested by the Statesville Police Department on Dec. 30, 2024, and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence as well as assault on a female by a male over 18 years of age. 

Irving was placed on administrative leave pending the internal investigation, which is standard. 

“The Statesville Police Department is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability,” Statesville Police Chief David Onley said in a statement. “Any allegations of criminal behavior involving our personnel are taken with the utmost seriousness and will be addressed appropriately.”

Irving was hired by the police department in February 2024.
