PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — The beautiful weather from this weekend will be spilling into the first half of the work week!

Enjoy sunny skies today with very dry air across the state as high pressure slips down the Appalachian mountains. Temperatures are starting in the mid- to-upper-20s this morning, but we will warm up to near 60° by this afternoon. Overnight, mostly clear skies will allow temperatures to slide back into the mid-30s.

More sunshine is on the way for Tuesday, and this will be our warmest day of the week. Highs in the upper-60s are expected in the Triad, while we’ll see many communities to the south and east in the lower-70s. Â
A new low-pressure system is forecast to move toward the Carolinas midweek. Highs remain in the mid-60s Wednesday with partly cloudy skies, but by Thursday morning, the cold front will be poised to move over the mountains. We’ll have a 60% chance of showers on Thursday, even as highs return to the mid-60s.

Behind that system, sunshine returns for Friday though it will be cooler, in the mid-50s.
Partly cloudy skies are ahead for the upcoming weekend with another cold front forecast to come through Saturday night. The airmass over the Piedmont is going to be very dry, so we aren’t expecting any rain. Temperatures, however, are going to swing dramatically. Highs on Saturday will return to the mid-60s, then we cool down again on Sunday, with highs only making it to the mid-50s.
