Slim chance for more winter weather in Triad next week

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A cold front came through last night, and bitterly cold winds are blowing across the Piedmont this morning.

Temperatures are falling, and wind chills are in the teens, so please bundle up yourself and your loved ones as you head out the door. Special attention should be given to protecting hands and heads to keep body temperatures warm.

It will be sunny and cold today, with highs in the mid-30s. For most of the day, wind chills will be below freezing.  Tonight, skies remain mostly clear with lows near 20° tomorrow morning.

We will begin to warm back to normal with dry weather through Friday.  Highs will be in the upper-40s Thursday and Friday.

Over the weekend, you will need your umbrella and a warm coat. While we are expecting a cold rain, temperatures will remain above freezing, so there will be no wintry weather this time around.

There is a 70% chance of rain on Saturday with highs in the upper-40s and a 60% chance on Sunday with highs in the lower-40s. Total rainfall will be low, between 0.25″ and 0.33″.

Get ready for dangerously cold air as we begin next week. The Piedmont will stay below freezing for 2-3 days starting Monday evening. Monday is going to be sunny with highs around freezing.  Tuesday, however, will start at 13° in the morning, then only warm up to 27° for the daytime high.

There is a slim chance of wintry precipitation Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.  Wednesday highs will be in the upper-20s. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to those dates.
