PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — We could still see some scattered areas of light rain and temperatures should actually be rising overnight.
Overnight lows in the 40s will be around midnight, and by the time you wake up Sunday morning, the temperatures should be near 60.
A warm front from the Gulf will approach from the west and southwest by 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. Sunday morning moving from west to east with a chance for some strong winds and even a slight chance for a tornado.
A squall line of storms is expected and that is where the greatest likelihood of dangerous weather will occur.
The line of storms should be east of the Piedmont by 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. and heading east toward Raleigh and the coast.
Our eventual high Sunday will be near 62. Skies will clear Sunday night and the low will be near 45.
Monday will be sunny with a high near 60.
There is another chance for rain on Tuesday with a high of 60.
Computer models indicate rain should be gone by midnight on New Year’s Eve, but an umbrella might still be a good idea for revelers.
Another cold front is expected for New Year’s Day with a high near 50.
The rest of the week will see high temperatures dropping to the 40s and overnight lows in the 20s to round out the first week of 2025.
