Shooting suspect facing 11 charges

WILMINGTON —  A man is in custody with a $1.5 million bond following a shooting incident on Friday afternoon.

On August 16, at around 11:00 a.m., the Wilmington Police Department responded to gunfire in the 900 block of North 10th Street, near Calvary Memorial Cemetery. The suspect, 33-year-old Anthony Lee Brown, was identified at the scene. Police secured the perimeter and evacuated nearby residents. After using loudspeakers to communicate with Brown, he exited the residence with his hands raised and was taken into custody without further incident.

Brown is facing 11 charges: 

  • Larceny 
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Possession of a weapon of mass destruction
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school. 
  • Reckless discharge of a firearm
  • Two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a schedule I controlled substance
  • Two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a schedule II controlled substance
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a schedule IV controlled substance
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver marijuana
  • Maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance
  • Felony possession of drug paraphernalia
