Scattered showers, thunderstorms on Tuesday in the Triad

There are various Flood Watches in effect: until 8 a.m. for Alamance and Chatham Counties; until 8 p.m. for Alleghany, Ashe, Wilkes, and Yadkin Counties; and until 2 am for Caswell, Rockingham, Stokes, and Surry Counties.

A low will push a warm front north of the Piedmont today, bringing highs to the mid-70s. The same low is going to sweep a cold front across the state, and we will have scattered showers and thunderstorms through the early evening. 

There is a Level 1/Marginal Risk of storms becoming severe, mainly due to gusty, damaging winds. The chance of rain is 80% and we can expect 1/2″ or less in rainfall today.

Cloudy skies with isolated showers are expected tonight. Lows will dip into the lower 60s.

Wednesday is going to be similar to today, with highs in the mid-70s and a 50% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

We will have an opportunity to dry out on Thursday as skies become partly cloudy.  Temperatures are really warming up too, climbing to the mid-80s.

A surface trough will hover over the western Piedmont on Friday, bringing clouds back and a 20% chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Highs will stay in the mid-80s.

An approaching cold front is going to produce similar conditions on Saturday, but once the cold front comes through, temperatures will decline to the lower-80s with partly cloudy skies on Sunday.

Pleasantly warm weather stays put for Monday, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-80s.
