PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — We’ll wake up to mostly cloudy skies this morning with the chance to see a few sprinkles through the morning hours.
A better chance for scattered showers by late morning and early afternoon with light, scattered showers remaining through the rest of the day.
You’ll want the umbrella with you if you’re heading out today! Temperatures are in the 30s to start off our morning and it’ll remain cold throughout the day with highs in the low 40s.Â
Moderate to heavy widespread rainfall will come in waves starting early Saturday and remaining throughout the day.
Saturday’s rain will be associated with a warm front which will help make our temperatures slightly warmer to start the weekend although portions of the mountains and foothills will remain colder. Afternoon highs reach the upper 50s with the exception of the mountains and foothills. The chance of rain on Saturday is 70%.Â
On Sunday, a cold front will spark a chance for severe thunderstorms. A level 2 risk for severe weather is in place for the entire FOX8 viewing area.
Heavy rain and lightning will be likely on Sunday and the main threats with the severe storms will be damaging winds, isolated flash flooding and a low, isolated tornado threat. The chance for rain and storms Sunday is 90%. Temperatures will be in the low 50s Sunday morning with highs in the mid 60s.
Monday will bring temperatures in the mid 40s in the morning and highs in the low 60s. It’ll also give us a much-needed dry day with mostly sunny skies before another front moves through the area on Tuesday.
The second cold front of the next 7 days moves through Tuesday and brings another chance for scattered showers. Temperatures will be in the low 40s in the morning with highs in the low 60s. Skies will be partly cloudy and the chance for rain is 40%.
Behind Tuesday’s front, temperatures will be in the low 40s Wednesday morning and will reach the low 50s in the afternoon with mostly sunny skies.
Mostly sunny skies remain on Thursday but our temperatures get even colder with morning lows in the low 30s and afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
