PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Scattered showers and thunderstorms are rumbling across the Piedmont this morning. Conditions will improve later this morning as storms diminish and move east of the FOX8 viewing area.Â

We will be able to enjoy a warm, mostly sunny day with highs in the mid-80s. The humidity will be much higher than yesterday, so prepare for summery conditions.Â

The UV index today will be 9 out of 11.

Enjoy mostly clear skies this evening, because we’ll have scattered clouds arriving around daybreak. Lows will be cooler, in the upper-50s.
A cold front sweeps across the state tomorrow, and winds are going to increase under mostly sunny skies. We are expecting sustained winds between 15 and 20 mph with gusts around 30 mph. Temperatures will be cooler, in the upper-70s.
Calmer weather is ahead for Friday and Saturday as high pressure takes over for a couple of days. We will have mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with highs in the lower-70s on Friday, then mid-70s on Saturday.
There is another storm system heading our way for the beginning of the work week. On Sunday, clouds will gradually increase, and there is a 20% chance of isolated showers.Â

By Monday, the chance of thunderstorms increases to 50%, and Tuesday will hold a 60% chance of showers. All three days, high temperatures are forecast to stay in the mid-70s.
