Kenny Mann did not set out to be a musician, but after some early intervention from his cousin (and eventual bandmate) and his mother, Mann realized that he was meant for the spotlight.
With his band Liquid Pleasure, Kenny Mann has been performing soul and R&B music for more than 50 years. Some of the band’s most high-profile gigs have been at presidential inaugural balls, beginning with President Jimmy Carter’s in 1977. He joins Leoneda Inge to discuss his career, his experiences playing inaugural balls and his nonpartisan approach to performing.
