Rainy days come to an end on a warm Wednesday in the Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) —Heat and humidity will be difficult to manage in the days to come.

We’re expecting mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies today with highs in the lower-90s.  The heat index will rise to between 95° and 100° this afternoon, and the UV index is 9 out of 11, so prolonged activity outdoors needs to be limited.

Rain chances remain below 20% today.

Skies stay partly cloudy overnight with lows near 73°.

Highs will rise to the mid-90s on Thursday and Friday with heat indices in the triple digits.  We’ll have a 20% chance of rain on Thursday, then a 30% chance on Friday.

Over the weekend, a cold front is going to move in from the west and sweep across the Piedmont on Sunday morning.

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be more common as rain chances pop up to 50% to 60%.  Highs will be near 90° both days.

As the new work week begins, temperatures will remain steady, in the lower-90s, and we’ll have lower chances of rain.

Skies are expected to be mostly sunny to partly cloudy on both Monday and Tuesday.
