Rainy cold front headed to Piedmont Triad

(WGHP) — The work week will end with sunny skies and rain for the weekend.

A mix of sun and clouds on Thursday with lows around 20 degrees and highs in the upper 40s.

Sunny on Friday with lows in the middle 20s and highs in the upper 40s.

A cold front will bring us rain on Saturday. Saturday morning temperatures will be near freezing. If the rain arrives early, we could see a light wintry mix across the mountains and foothills before the mixture changes to rain. Across the Piedmont, Saturday will be a rainy day with highs in the mid to upper 40s. Chance of rain 80%.

The cold front will linger across the region on Sunday. That means rain will continue to fall with lows in the lower 40s. During the day on Sunday, colder air will begin to move in. If the rain is still here on Sunday evening, we could see a light wintry mix before the precipitation ends. Chance of rain 60%.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Monday, sunny and cold with lows in the upper teens and highs in the lower 30s.

Partly sunny and very cold on Tuesday with lows in the lower teens and highs in the upper 20s. Chance of precipitation 25%.

Wednesday, partly sunny and still very cold with lows in the lower teens and highs in the upper 20s. Chance of precipitation 25%.
