The area is recovering after being devastated by Hurricane Helene in September.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. — President Donald Trump is on his way to western North Carolina to meet with Hurricane Helene survivors and speak to state and local officials about storm recovery efforts.
Air Force One landed at Asheville Regional Airport around 10:52 a.m. The president is scheduled to hold a news conference upon arriving in Asheville, around 11 a.m. Gov. Josh Stein plans to meet Trump on the tarmac for the visit.
Trump will be joined by several state and federal lawmakers for the briefing, including Reps. Tim Moore, Chuck Edwards and Pat Harrigan.
Following his remarks, Trump will tour areas still reeling from the storm and meet with residents. The area was devastated by Helene in late September, killing more than 100 people in the state and leaving thousands without shelter.
“Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly,” a Buncombe County spokesperson said.
Details about road closures will be shared if they become available, the spokesperson added.
