(WGHP) — A cold front is working its way across the Midwest and toward the Appalachians today.
Ahead of the front, we will have scattered showers and a few thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The chance of rain is 50% and highs will be in the mid-70s.
Tonight, scattered showers and thunderstorms continue through the evening, then we’ll have mostly cloudy skies as daybreak approaches. Lows will be in the mid-60s.
The cold front is going to make its way over the mountains early tomorrow. Ahead of the front, temperatures will be pushed into the lower 80s. Behind the front, skies will clear out nicely, so the shows at Merlefest are in great shape for Saturday and Saturday night. We will be able to enjoy mostly sunny skies on Sunday with highs in the lower 70s.
High pressure keeps the weather beautiful on Monday with sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s. As the high moves eastward into the Atlantic, we’ll pick up a southwesterly flow that pushes very warm, muggy air into the Piedmont. Tuesday’s highs will be in the lower 80s, then we’ll warm to the mid-to-upper 80s Wednesday and Thursday. We will have partly cloudy skies with rain chances hovering between 20% and 25%
