(WGHP) — After 1,038 days the Triad’s snow drought has come to an end with 0.4″ of snow measured at PTI airport. Temperatures remain cold this evening with many in the 20s after 8 PM. Overnight, temperatures fall into the 10s with clear skies making it a frigid start to Wednesday morning.
Lots of melting occurred during the day Tuesday but some lingering wet/slick spots are possible early Wednesday morning. If it looks wet overnight or early Wednesday, it’s black ice! Please use caution, especially in shaded areas and near bridges/overpasses. Afternoon temperatures on Wednesday reach the mid 40s with mostly sunny skies and breezy southwest winds.
Slightly warmer start on Thursday morning with temperatures in the low 30s out the door, but winds will be breezy with northwest winds of 10-20 mph possible. Afternoon highs reach the upper 40s. Winds gusts of 30-40 mph are possible. The strong winds are associated with a cold front that will move through during the day and will drop temperatures into the afternoon and evening. We’ll end the day Thursday colder than we started it.
Sunny skies and frigid temperatures early Friday morning with temperatures in the 10s. Afternoon highs reach the low 40s. Northwest winds remain a little breezy.
Temperatures gradually warm up into the weekend and next week. We’ll be in the 20s Saturday morning with highs in the mid 40s but by Sunday, the 50s return!
We’ll see increasing clouds on Sunday with temperatures in the upper 20s in the morning and highs in the low 50s.
Rain chances return on Monday with mostly cloudy skies. We’ll start Monday in the upper 30s and highs in the mid 50s. The chance for rain is 40%.
Rain looks likely again on Tuesday with a 60% chance for showers. Temperatures on Tuesday will also be warmer! We’ll start the morning in the upper 40s and afternoon highs will reach the low 60s.
