RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — How did the Wednesday storm impact central North Carolina? CBS 17 crews across the viewing area caught the following glimpses of damage from private homes to public highways.

Flooding could be seen on Interstate 40 in Johnston County near Exit 319 towards Wilmington. Crews were on scene, some up to their waist in the waters, attempting to clear the road.

At the Timber Apartments in Raleigh, limbs and branches were flying, according to a maintenance technician for the complex. He showed CBS 17 where a tree took out an area of fencing and destroyed a tool shed.

A tree fell down in a parking lot at an apartment complex on Walden Pond Drive. The tree appeared to have landed on empty spots and did not damage anything.

Power lines fell in a Durham neighborhood, causing Zenith Place to lose power. Also in the Bull City, a fire hydrant on the corner of North Roxboro Street and Crutchfield could be seen shooting out water, causing police to shut down one lane of North Roxboro.

Interstate 85 in Durham was shut down to one lane at an exit ramp due to a car crash amid the wet road conditions.
