Photos: Possible tornado damages homes in North Carolina

GREENE COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — A possible tornado touched down Thursday in Greene County as part of storms with Debby.

Crews were out working in the county cleaning up damage left by that possible tornado. County officials said it happened around 2 a.m.

Debris was seen on the ground and three homes and two agricultural farms were damaged. Roofs were seen torn off buildings and trees snapped lying on the ground.

Firefighters with Fort Run Volunteer Fire and EMS said it all happened near Fort Run Road and that no injuries have been reported.

“We look outside, our porch is gone, our buildings destroyed but no life lost, these are material things they can be replaced,” James Thomas said. “Yes, I lost some things, but on the other side of the street here is a mobile home park, it could’ve been a lot worse.”

Greene County officials advise people to report any additional damage to emergency services and to stay informed as Debby continues to move through.
