Perspective | Goosebumps are possible as we imagine how to get child care right. Here’s how

Close your eyes, and imagine an America where we have gotten childcare right.

The Reimagine Childcare Project has spent the last two years co-creating and building a radical new vision of childcare.

It imagines a future where childcare looks and feels abundant.

One where we make sure every child, parent, guardian, and provider is whole and happy. One where everyone has exactly what they need to become who they are meant to be.

Doesn’t it just give you goosebumps?

Participating as a “beacon” on the Reimagine Childcare Project was one of my very favorite projects in 2024.

The team invited me to serve on the powerbuilding + organizing cohort, alongside fellow early childhood advocates. We helped design stories about what child care in America could look like, if all caregiving was deeply valued, and families had agency, respect, and support.

The stories are beautiful, powerful, and help this possible future feel tangible and real. I encourage you to read them. I find they help us all stay grounded through the hopeful vision they give us for the future.

We didn’t stop with the stories. The team also produced a free communication campaign kit, designed to help you amplify your movement. The kit includes exercises that will guide you through:

  • Setting campaign goals,
  • Identifying your target audiences,
  • Developing a messaging and channel strategy,
  • Creating an implementation and launch plan for your strategy, and
  • Accessing templates for visual assets.

We’d love for you to use the campaign kit in your work. One of my favorite parts of the kit are the templates we included to help you create assets such as posters and social media graphics using illustrations, doodles, and shapes from the library provided.

So with that, I invite you to dive in. I can’t wait to see what you come up with in 2025!
