NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Patrice Faison will be leaving her position as chief academic officer of New Hanover County Schools.
Faison has accepted a role as assistant superintendent of high school performance with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg district, according to a district press release.
Under Faison’s leadership, the district developed a comprehensive instructional framework to ensure that high expectations are set and met across all schools.
“Her focus on instructional excellence has positioned instruction at the forefront of district priorities, aligning with her belief that effective teaching is the primary driver of student success,” the press release states.
Faison’s work includes the implementation of pacing guides that provide parents with clear insights into classroom instruction. Schools from across New Hanover County experienced exceptional growth in the 2022-23 school year, according to test results presented to the North Carolina Board of Education.
“We held high expectations for all students because we know every student is capable of meeting them,” Faison said in the press release. “I’m incredibly proud of the collaborative work of the NHCS instructional team and all of our district staff in giving students the opportunities they deserve.”
The district will begin the search for a new Chief Academic Officer immediately.
