NHC monitoring potential tropical disturbance in Atlantic

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a potential disturbance that may develop in the coming days.

At 8 p.m. Monday, the NHC stated that a low pressure system could develop in the central Tropical Atlantic in the coming days.

Should it form, forecasters said environmental conditions were “favorable” for further development as it head west-northwest at 10 to 15 mph.

However, as of this report, the development is expected to be slow into next week. The system’s established path is not yet known.

The NHC said the area of potential disturbance has a 20% chance of formation through the next week.
