There have been 244 adults who have died from the virus. The numbers show that 9.2 percent of emergency room visits were for flu-like symptoms last week, a decrease from the previous week, but a huge jump from the mid-February numbers of the last two flu seasons (3.5 percent in 2023-2024 and .8 percent in 2022-2023).

Two children between the ages of 5 and 17 have died from the virus in North Carolina. According to the state, one child was from eastern North Carolina, and the other lived in central North Carolina. Limited information was shared to protect both families’ privacy.
