THOMASVILLE, N.C. — An 11-year-old boy from North Carolina is looking for a lifesaving gift.
Blake Shore was born with a rare genetic disease and also has polycystic kidney disease. Because of the disease, he now needs a new kidney.
Shore’s family said they are looking for a kidney from a living donor. Because of Shore’s blood type, he needs a kidney from someone with O-positive or O-negative blood.
The family said kidneys from living donors can last up to 20 years on average, while kidneys from donors who passed away last up to 15 years.
